‘Weak back’ (Lumbar Insufficiency)

Some people have a ‘weak back’, which means that they show symptoms such as fatigue, stiffness, and weakness, accompanied by aching, during or after slight loading of the back.


The athlete should:
– improve technique or change working posture in order to relieve the symptoms;
– strengthen the back muscles by comprehensive training which should be a part of all training programs.
The doctor may prescribe physiotherapy with a back muscle program and give advice on lifting technique.
