Palpation of soft tissue

Palpation of the brachioradialis muscle

The subject’s elbow is held in 90° flexion and the forearm in the neutral position between pronation and supination. Ask the subject to flex the elbow and resist the movement. The contraction of the brachioradialis muscle is well palpable and visible and the structure can, by palpation in the posterior direction, easily be followed further proximaUy in its course until its insertion at the anterior aspect of the humerus, level with the
lateral supracondylar ridge.
